First Encounter

ZOOMING WITH CELI

The first time Celi and I zoomed was not great. It felt more like her not self meeting my not self. It was very business. Networking. Professional. And my mind had attached itself to her being in an MBA program. My experience with that space and the people in that space has been tainted by what doesn’t work for me. the mentality and the pace don’t work. The sterility of the space hasn’t felt good. The elitism of most folks there isn’t for me. And with all of these filters, I went into a zoom meeting with Celi. I didn’t even know how to pronounce her name.

The timing was off… a bit like watching a seventh grade band perform a song that you know really well, but they haven’t quite mastered the skills to make it sound good. I don’t remember what we talked about. There must have been something about how I thought I could help her with career related things. I’m sure we talked about Breyton. The rest was a blur. Even scheduling that zoom session was weird. I had been on a high when I agreed to it, but then I was sick with heart issues. Who knows if I really wanted to talk with her? And when the call ended, I didn't think we would ever talk again.
